When we talk about gastronomy one of the favourite pastimes in La Manga is going to the “chiringuito” (beach bar), there is a huge number of chiringuitos but Chiringuito El Barón or El Mirador are very popular.
You can enjoy eating the typical dishes like fried fish, caldero rice with gilt-head bream and ali oli (garlic mayonnaise) or fish baked in salt in Camarote de la Martinique, el Sitio de mi recreo, Bonobo La Manga, la Escuela de Pieter or el Parador el Mar Menor.
You can savour French cuisine in La Brasserie o Borsalino, or sophisticaded Mediterranean dishes in Malvasía or in Bistrot 18, with an excellent view of the sea.
If you want to taste fresh fish of the area ( monkfish, sea bass, john dory, moorhen…), sea food or caldero rice, you can go to the port of Cartagena and visit restaurants like los Techos Bajos, la Casa del Pescador, el Club Naútico de Santa Lucía or Varadero
Bodega Nicolás, el Rincón de Miguel, Casa Pepe o Tapería Egos are good places to take tapas. In the Submarine Archeology Museum ARQUA you can find a modern restaurant.
La catedral is placed opposite the Roman Theatre,The Barrio de San Roque is located in a rebuilt old store from the XIX Century and Los Churrascos is a tradicional place with more than thirty years of experience. In La Tana or Miramar, in Cabo de Palos, you can enjoy a delicious caldero rice with a view of the sea.
If you want to take tapas you can go to lengendary restaurants like Las Jarras, El Garrampón, Los Zagales, Las Mulas or Pasteleria Bar Zaher, where you can taste the typical meat pie.
In Los Navarros, in Pura Cepa or in La Pequeña Taberna you can savour the traditional Murcian dishes. In the restaurant of the Real Casino, they combine tradition and modernity and in Keki Tapería avant-garde cuisine.
In Restaurante el Churra, they offer a high quality and traditional cuisine in the city centre while Alborada is more refined. In Taúlla, Local de ensayo or el Pasaje Zabalburu they serve avant garde cuisine . Enso sushi is a modern Japanesse restaurant and la Cabaña Buenavista is the only restaurant with a Michelin star in the Region of Murcia.
In Águilas we find a great number of restaurants such as Restaurante Ginés, el Mesón del Willy, el Faro o la Taberna Mediática, with high quality and genuine food from the area; simple but high quality cooking in el Poli, or fresh fish and sea food in El Refugio. Furthermore, Garum has a peculiar menu and Kabuki original dishes (Asian food). Zoco del Mar is a chill out restaurant located in the castle of Águilas. El pecado Gastrobar combines tradition with the last trends and in El Ramonetero, traditional cooking in the current context.
In the city centre you can visit El Albedrío, with a wide selection of tapas; La Casa de los Mussos, typical Murcian food; Casa Roberto, an old house restored as a restaurant; La Cepa, traditional but modern cuisine ; or La Cava, with an innovate twist.
Restaurante Paredes, on the outskirts, offers a very elaborated cuisine. The restaurant of the Parador de Lorca, placed in the Castle of Lorca, has a high quality cooking and an excellent surrounding.
Also on the outskirts the restaurants Polonia or La Peña cook traditional food. Restaurante Amaltea or Venta Cristóbal have delicious menus; and in Cañarejo Gastrobar, they are specialised in charcoal grilled meat.
